Seseweor is the name of a type of local magpie that is considered to be mystical in the local traditional community, believing that whenever it mysteriously appears, flies over a village and whistles, something important will happen within the next two or three days. Usually, it is a good event, such as a visit from an honorary guest; head of the clan or a family member that has been away for a long time. Textiles with the seseweor bird motif are used as everyday clothing.
Seseweor adalah nama murai lokal yang dianggap mistis oleh masyarakat lokal. Masyarakat percaya penampakan murai ini menandakan akan ada kejadian penting dalam dua atau tiga hari ke depan. Biasanya kejadian baik, seperti kunjungan dari tamu kehormatan atau anggota keluarga yang sudah lama tidak berjumpa. Kain dengan motif seseweor biasanya digunakan pada pakaian sehari-hari.

Watubo is a community of ikat weavers in Watublapi village, just on the outskirts of Maumere, in Sikka regency, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. The collective consists of 26 ikat weaving artisans, who aspire to conserve the local art and culture, also increasing the prosperity of their communities. The community also work with respect and care for the environment.
To this day, the artisans in Maumere continue to use the techniques and tools passed down to them through generations, alongside the colors, patterns, and symbols. According to the traditional community, traditional textile motifs belongs to the Iwangete Clan and Sikka Krowe Clan. Textile from ikat weaving is not only used for clothing but also a part of the life cycle—representing ethnicity, tradition, religion, as well as a symbol of status, wealth, authority, and honor.
